IBM got out of it some years ago. HP, currently the world’s largest PC vendor with approximately 20% market share, just said recently that they are planning to get out of it too. Where will that leave us? Well, tablets and smartphones anyone? The sales of both have been skyrocketing as of late and there are reports that ARM – the dominant chip maker for smart phones – is planning to release chips that will be cheaper.
